"La Stanza dei Citti" is the ideal place to stay in the historic centre of Arezzo and explore on foot the best that history has left us. It consists of two independent studio apartments, both with a mezzanine: bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living room with sofa bed.
The Stanza di Martino looks onto the palazzo's inner courtyard, within its ancient walls. The Stanza di Lapo instead overlooks Via Cavour, so you can breathe the air of the old town. Two different ways of living the same, ancient, address.
A few steps from the entrance stands the Oratory of Saints Lorentino and Pergentino, patron saints of the city: guarded for centuries by the Fraternita dei Laici, it once housed Renaissance masterpieces and today still serves as an exhibition space. Looking up along the street, at number 184, you'll find the ancient stone coat of arms with three bishop's mitres: the mark of the power of Guido Tarlati, bishop and lord of Arezzo in the 14th century.
Guido built a great state with Arezzo as its capital: within a few years he conquered all the territories of today's Arezzo province, pushing towards Siena as far as Sinalunga and Torrita, then rapidly expanding eastward. At the end of this first phase of conquest, he adopted that coat of arms for himself: three mitres, symbolising the three historic dioceses of the Arezzo bishops — Arezzo, Cortona and Città di Castello — and the new geographical scale of his state.
Guido died of malaria in 1327, on his way back from a campaign against the Florentines. His funerary monument, possibly designed by Giotto, still stands today in the Cathedral, in the left nave: a series of marble reliefs recounts his conquests. A Ghibelline bishop, a warrior bishop — for a stretch of history, more powerful than the Pope himself.
Walking along the same Via Cavour — which, on the stretch towards the Oratory, was once known as Via di Vallelunga — you'll pass other noble palazzos that mark its course: Palazzo Gozzari, built in medieval times and transformed during the Renaissance, today home to art exhibitions and events; Palazzo Sandrelli, an elegant 16th-century residence renovated in the 18th century with refined stuccowork; and Palazzo Rossi Ferrini, the most majestic on the street, born from the union of ancient tower-houses and transformed into a Renaissance marvel with a rusticated portal and frescoed halls.
Further on, the street leads to Piazza della Badia, dominated by the Abbey of Saints Flora and Lucilla: inside, Giorgio Vasari's theatrical vision, the perspective illusion of Andrea Pozzo's fake dome, and the solemn 14th-century crucifix by Segna di Bonaventura. A few minutes further, in Piazza San Francesco, the Bacci Chapel holds one of the absolute high points in the history of art: Piero della Francesca's cycle of the Legend of the True Cross.

Everything went PERFECTLY, from picking up the apartment key to the super convenient parking. The place is fantastic in every way — nothing is missing, the furnishings are wonderful and it was spotlessly clean. The location is also ideal for getting around on foot, no car needed. The owners are wonderful people who are quick to answer any request. THANKS AGAIN!
Great location — we walked to the centre and the markets. A small, comfortable apartment with a coffee machine and pods included, plus a kettle with tea available, a microwave and an electric hob. We booked the parking space about 350 metres away, which was really convenient. The bathroom was new and well organised despite its small size. They welcomed our little dog with no extra charge.
Kindness and helpfulness at check-in, a very central location, excellent cleanliness. I highly recommend this place — the owner is such a kind person!!!

My family and I stayed in the Lapo apartment, a loft that keeps the typical features of a Tuscan home — vaulted ceilings and exposed brick — while also offering modern comforts and a fully equipped kitchenette (induction hob, coffee machine, microwave, etc.). A truly delightful spot on one of the city's most important streets, close to the historic sites and the shopping area. What can we say? A charming place that left us speechless.
